The government has invested £10 million into an automotive firm which plans to create electric-powered vehicles in the UK, which could be good news for people searching for finance jobs.

Tata Motors has received the funding as part of a scheme called the Automotive Assistance Programme which was set up to support a lower carbon future for the automotive industry in the UK.

Business secretary Lord Mandelson said: "The government is determined to help the car industry to exploit fully the opportunities offered by green manufacturing. Today we are backing Tata as Tata backs Britain."

He added that the loan is a "tangible demonstration" of its commitment to the development of low-carbon vehicles and to the reduction of carbon.
