Sales jobs: FRAs look to buy new services
A new procurement strategy from the UK's Fire and Rescue Authorities (FRAs) could give a boost to sales jobs as the organisation said it is committing to buying new goods and services over the next three years.
The Department for Communities and Local Government made the announcement today and said the new plan will go towards items such as vehicles, ladders and breathing apparatus.
Communities secretary John Denham is encouraging FRAs to consider how the choice of supplier could benefit local sales jobs and training opportunities.
He said: "If FRAs look at a wider range of suppliers, including smaller companies, they have the opportunity to find the best products to purchase, foster innovation, help to create jobs and support local business."
Labour has recently helped to boost construction sales jobs with the introduction of the £1 billion Kickstart programme, which gives funding to building projects.
