Construction industry 'offers job flexibility'

By Nikki Barrister

Jobs within the construction sector tend to be mobile, it has been claimed.

Dr Noble Francis, economics director at industry body the Construction Products Association, commented that skills are often transferrable between residential, school and hospital sectors.

"Within construction people do tend to be quite mobile," he continued.

However, he added: "The problem comes moving from something like housing into infrastructure - building railways, building roads, et cetera."

Dr Francis went on to say that skills are often not as transferrable between these sectors.

This week, mayor of London Boris Johnson announced details of the planned Crossrail Tunnelling Academy, which will provide people in the capital with the chance to gain qualifications in a variety of roles essential to the project.

Mr Johnson said that the engineering scheme - the scale of which has not been seen in the south-east for 50 years - can provide a vital economic boost and help London become the true manufacturing capital of Europe.

The Aaron Wallis Construction and M&E finance team offer many construction finance jobs across the sector. For employers Aaron Wallis offer a construction finance recruitment service that offers 12 month rebate and psychometric profiling within a single fixed recruitment price.
